Transportation Becomes Decapitation – Graco Recalls 2 Million Strollers
Just in case you haven’t yet heard, stroller giant Graco recalled 2 million – that’s million with an M – strollers. The industry changed their standards for how strollers were made back in 2008. It was a voluntary standard, so no one had to change the way they manufactured their products. Graco opted out. You might remember that a couple months ago, Graco recalled nearly 2 million (with an M) strollers because they were amputating fingertips. Seems like you’re better off just putting your kid straight into a coffin with wheels.

The potential problem, in their words:
Entrapment and strangulation can occur, especially to infants younger than 12 months of age, when a child is not harnessed. An infant can pass through the opening between the stroller tray and seat bottom, but his/her head and neck can become entrapped by the tray. Infants who become entrapped at the neck are at risk of strangulation.
They don’t specifically mention decapitation, but let’s cut through the recall-rhetoric and get to the real issue. If your baby is in the stroller, and they slide down and fit their head under the tray and you hit a bump, that kid’s melon is coming clean off. BTW, if your kid is younger than 12 months of age, he or she should be harnessed at all times when in a stroller. Just sayin’.
