Hong Kong is looking into providing paid paternity leave for civil servants and if all goes well, extending the program to the private sector.

There is a fear, however, that the workforce may suffer a lack of manpower if all new fathers are able to take time to be with their wives and new children.

The Hong Kong Chinese Civil Servants’ Association, Women’s Association, and Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions all hope the program is enacted.
