Nils Pickert’s 5-year-old son likes to wear dresses and skirts. In show of solidarity, Pickert started wearing them too. “Yes, I am one of those fathers who are trying to raise his children with gender equality. I’m not one of those pseudo-intellectual daddies that rambles on about studying gender justice, and then, as soon as the child is born, falls back into the comfortable and clichéd gender roles.”
That’s pretty badass.
This Sunday, September 2nd is Father’s Day in Australia, and word around the outback is that dads are prepared to receive gifts valued at less than half of the value of those bought for Mother’s Day.
While moms (or mums, as they call’em) received Mother’s Day gifts with an average value of $60, dads are expected to see gifts valued around $28, says IBISWorld.
Serge Bielanko, friend of the show, got some internet heat recently over this photo he posted back in July. It was one of many in a gallery for an article called Old Work Boots & Camouflage Cargos: How NOT To Let Your Man Fall Out Of Fashion. Not long after his article was published, the photo was featured on Babble’s Facebook page where MOMS ATTACKED.
Serge is a caring writer and loving father. The initial comments were prejudice, hateful and dug into his soul. “What the heck were these people so upset about? Did they not read my article? I’m HER DAD!”, he wrote in a followup piece. Is it fair to judge a person because of a single picture? Absolutely not. But it is a photo… on the internet.
Are you an old punk lover whose man cave is tangled in guitar cords and fist-in-the-air anti-authoritarian rah-rah? Well, while trolling through the #starwars hash tag on Instagram, I ran across this guy – Tony (@gonkdroid).
As you can imagine, he puts the proton torpedo in our Death Star thermal exhaust port.
This pic came from Reddit user BravoBobby, who titled the photo, “My friend has been babysitting for the Foo Fighters in Europe this summer, tonight she us sent this.”
It’s awesome seeing rock star dads taking time with their kids – even while on tour.
Thick mustache, short-sleeve polo, fanny pack, plaid shorts, knee socks… the ultimate accidental-hipster dad package. His son, however, could care less about his dad’s sweet style or Cedric Gervais. Well, we like this video. Here’s why.
Hey guys, here’s a scientific kick to the nuts. Turns out our premium man seed loses octane over time and we now have a biological expiration date, sort of. Researchers at deCODE, the Icelandic global leader in analyzing and understanding the human genome, reported today that a father’s age, not a mother’s, at the time a child is conceived is the single largest contributor to the passing of new hereditary mutations to offspring.
To better understand the cause of new hereditary mutations, the deCODE team sequenced the genomes of 78 Icelandic families with offspring who had a diagnosis of autism or schizophrenia. The team also sequenced the genomes of an additional 1,859 Icelanders, providing a larger comparative population.
Ohhh “LOST”, I can’t quit you. Apparently, neither can Monica and Joao from Portugal. This husband and wife collecting duo have some unique items and aren’t afraid to show it. Their blog, m-and-j-collection.blogspot.pt, features an amazing collection that they are both passionate about.
There are photos of everything you could possibly imagine. Some of my favorites include a Terminator 2 T-800 Endoskull, a 1996 bootleg of Nine Inch Nails – Soundquakes: Quake Soundtrack, an authentic special collector’s edition Top Gun U.S. Navy G-1 Jacket and a special edition Borat DVD with Mankini from Australia. If you want to see a room filled with most of their collection, there’s even a 3D overview.
Their home is literally a museum for everything they love… and they’re weeks away from bringing home their greatest love of all.
