Sad dads might have affect their kids earlier than previously thought.

Seen in the Official Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a group of Norwegian doctors found that a father’s stress and depression during his partner’s pregnancy is a possible predictor for future emotional, behavioral, and social problems in his child.

Thanks to Chris “Canadian Dad” Read for pointing us to our dad of the week: a Chinese fella named Mr. Feng.

Mr. Feng’s son Xiao was a gamer with a bit of an addiction. Xiao’s grades in school suffered, and he couldn’t hold down a job.

Well, crap like that doesn’t work for Mr. Feng. So Mr. Feng fought fire with fire: he hired online hitmen to hunt down Xiao and kill him every time he entered the game. He figured that if Xiao was spawn-killed every time he was in the game, he’d grow tired of the game and rejoin reality.

Australia Introduces “Dad and Partner” Paid Leave

Welcome to Australia

Australian dads (and partners) – if your spouse (or partner) has had a baby or you’ve adopted one after January 1, 2013, you’re now entitled to “Dad and Partner Pay”.

Eligible working dads (or, you know, partners) are now able to receive up to two weeks of government-funded minimum wage and while on an unpaid parental leave or while not working. Applicants can receive their Dad and Partner Pay any time within the first year of their new child’s birth or adoption.

I’m kind of making fun of the “and Partner” wording, but it’s totally cool that Australia is supporting same-sex parents in this government program.
