Have you ever noticed that moms and dads speak differently to their babies? Moms tend to engage in “baby talk”, while fathers’ words tend to sound a lot more like the kind of conversation they’d have with an older child. Or, say…their accountant.
“This isn’t a bad thing at all — it’s not a failing of the fathers”, according to study lead Mark VanDam, a professor in the Speech and Hearing Sciences department at Washington State. “We think that maybe fathers are doing things that are conducive to their children’s learning but in a different way. The parents are complementary to their children’s language learning.”
With over 5.4 million viewers since the beginning of the year, this video may not be new to you, but it’s a super cute video of a dad attempting to coax his baby daughter to tell him that he is her favorite (or possibly favourite?).
Ohhh “LOST”, I can’t quit you. Apparently, neither can Monica and Joao from Portugal. This husband and wife collecting duo have some unique items and aren’t afraid to show it. Their blog, m-and-j-collection.blogspot.pt, features an amazing collection that they are both passionate about.
There are photos of everything you could possibly imagine. Some of my favorites include a Terminator 2 T-800 Endoskull, a 1996 bootleg of Nine Inch Nails – Soundquakes: Quake Soundtrack, an authentic special collector’s edition Top Gun U.S. Navy G-1 Jacket and a special edition Borat DVD with Mankini from Australia. If you want to see a room filled with most of their collection, there’s even a 3D overview.
Their home is literally a museum for everything they love… and they’re weeks away from bringing home their greatest love of all.
Remember Sean Phillips? He made a baby beatboxing video that went viral a while back. Naturally, we saw it and noticed it was also featured on our BFF Jeanne Sager’s Cafe Mom article. We liked it, it was cute. However, some internet moms had to destroy the fact that a 7-month-old baby (at the time) could not actually beatbox.
Anyways, 1-year-old Jonah is back with some fresh beats! Clearly, he has stepped out of his comfort zone by venturing into the vast realm of baby breakbeat, upping the complexity of rhythm.
